MAIELY & JOSHUA

Our story begins in December 2021 when we met for the first time. Kathryn, our mutual friend (thanks Kathryn - we love you!), decided she wanted to watch “Encanto” and invited more people to join her. She invited a bunch of friends, but only Josh and I came along. Kathryn and Josh and I enjoyed the movie!

At the theatre, Josh was trying to make friends and impress people, like he always does, and said something to me in Portuguese. Neither of us remember what that phrase was, but hearing him speak my language blew my mind. I thought he was nice :)

Josh was impressed with me, too! So after the movie, Josh kept trying to go to my church’s events, hoping to find me. But he never found me. Josh was sad about this  :(

But God’s timing is better than ours!

We didn’t talk or see each other for another 13 months… 

​

Until God used Kathryn to bring us together again! Kathryn loves to do things and invite people. On January 14, 2023, Kathryn decided to get married, and she and Alex invited people to join her… and Josh and I came along with her again! (Thanks, again, Kathryn!)

Josh and I talked for a little bit at the wedding. We both remembered each other vividly from a year before! At the wedding, Josh asked me to teach him Portuguese. I said yes to that! He also promised to not go 13 months without talking to me ever again. He kept his promise. 

​

A few days later Josh sent me his number, and we haven’t stopped talking ever since. Sometimes I wish he would stop talking, but sometimes he has good things to say ❤️ (he wrote this part, btw)

As our conversations grew longer and sweeter, it has been a blessing and adventure finding out how God orchestrated every detail in our past lives to bring us to a present Life Together.
